DOWNTON ABBEY
Downton Abbey. A show set in the 1920s featuring the family of the Earl of Grantham - the Crawley Family - and their unbelievably many servants.
I’ve heard about this show when it won in the Emmys 2011 for Best Mini-Series. At first, I thought it was boring so I didn’t give it a try. But just 3 weeks ago, in Saturday Night Live, when they made fun of the show, i’ve decided to download all the episodes and give this a try. Also, many celebrities love this show!
AND HELL YEAH IT WAS AMAZING. HOLY CRAP. JUST PURE AWESOME.
At first the show is overwhelming because of the amazing scenery, eye popping set, glamorous clothes, and the number of characters. (So far, 33 characters have appeared. Of course, some died and left so there will be new characters next season)
But as the series goes on, I was sucked in to their world. I couldn’t think properly in school because I was thinking of these people! Each MAIN characters (at least 18) were given equal plots and drama. Well, of course the main focus of the show are Mary and Mathew, and Anna and Mr. Bates.
Another big thing I like about the show is that it tackled, if not clearly, World War 1. Downton Abbey is like a quick and fun and dramatic history lesson for me.
Over all, Downton Abbey is probably one of the BEST TV series I have seen. There are character development, heart wrenching drama, satisfying romance, and of course, realistic characters.
